Ambush on Tangkhul Naga Civilians in Ukhrul District Kills Two

Ambush kills two, Kuki militants suspected behind ambush

Suspected Kuki militants fired upon Tangkhul Naga passengers travelling on the TM Kasom–Litan road. Several vehicles were targeted. Two persons were reportedly killed at the scene. Video footage of the aftermath of the attack spread rapidly on social media.

The first victim has been identified as S. W. Chinaoshang, son of S. W. Ruichumhao, an ex-serviceman and a resident of Tashar village in Ukhrul district. The second victim has been identified as Yaruingam Vashum, son of Thuimi Vashum.

BSF constable killed: Constable Mithun Mandal (170 Bn, A Coy) was struck by a bullet during indiscriminate firing from Mongkot Chepu toward Sharkaphung, a Tangkhul Naga village in Kamjong district. He succumbed at RIMS Imphal. He was from West Bengal.

Sustained armed clashes across Ukhrul and Kamjong districts. Daily gunfights, bunker construction, and house-burnings in Chasad, Grihang, Litan, and Sinakeithei. A church area was struck by gunfire. Multiple deaths from factional fighting and crossfire.
