Manipur Staff Selection Commission has invited online applications for 80 Special Primary Teacher posts in the Education (S) Department. Applications open on July 31 and close on August 20.
Imphal, July 22: The Manipur Staff Selection Commission (MSSC) has announced the recruitment of 80 Special Primary Teachers on a regular basis for the Education (Schools) Department, opening opportunities for qualified special education professionals across the state.
The recruitment notification, issued on Tuesday, states that the appointments have been approved by the Government of Manipur and that the selection process will be conducted through a Computer Based Test (CBT). Only candidates sponsored by the concerned Employment Exchanges will be eligible to apply online.
The move comes as the state continues efforts to strengthen inclusive education by increasing the availability of trained teachers for children with disabilities in government schools.
80 vacancies across reserved categories
According to the notification, all 80 posts are classified as Group C (Non-Gazetted) under Pay Level 6. Of the total vacancies, 42 have been earmarked for the Unreserved category, 24 for Scheduled Tribes, one for Scheduled Castes, 10 for OBC (Meitei), and three for OBC (Meitei Pangal). Reservation has also been provided for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities under categories including blindness and low vision, deaf and hard of hearing, and locomotor disabilities.
Candidates with benchmark disabilities must possess a disability certificate certifying at least 40 per cent disability from the competent authority.
Applications to open on July 31
The MSSC said online applications will be accepted through its official recruitment portal from 5 pm on July 31, 2026, and the application window will remain open until 5 pm on August 20, 2026. Applications submitted through any mode other than the online portal will not be considered.
Candidates will be able to choose their preferred examination centres from Imphal, Churachandpur and Senapati while submitting their online applications.
Eligibility criteria
Applicants must be Indian citizens and should be able to speak Manipuri or any recognised tribal dialect of Manipur. They should also be permanent residents of the state, although candidates whose parents or ancestors in their direct lineage are permanent residents of Manipur will also be eligible subject to documentary proof.
The prescribed age limit is 18 to 38 years as on the date of notification. Age relaxation will be available to government servants, Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes in accordance with prevailing government rules.
Professional qualifications mandatory
The notification prescribes specific qualifications in line with norms of the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) and the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE).
Candidates must have passed Class XII with at least 50 per cent marks, or 45 per cent in accordance with applicable NCTE regulations. In addition, applicants must possess either a Diploma in Special Education from an RCI-approved institution or an equivalent recognised qualification along with a valid RCI Central Rehabilitation Register (CRR) number.
Applicants are also required to have qualified Teacher Eligibility Test-I (TET-I) conducted by the State Government or any agency recognised by NCTE. Where applicable, candidates recruited without cross-disability training will have to undergo such training when it is introduced by the RCI.
Selection through CBT
The recruitment examination will be conducted in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode.
The examination will consist of 100 multiple-choice questions carrying one mark each, divided into three sections:
General Knowledge – 50 marks
Basic Mathematics – 25 marks
English Language – 25 marks
The questions will be based on the Class XII standard. General Knowledge will cover subjects including politics, history, geography, literature, sports, arts and culture, as well as special education. There will be no negative marking for incorrect answers.
The duration of the examination will be 75 minutes, while Persons with Disabilities using scribes will receive an additional 20 minutes per hour, extending the examination time to 100 minutes.
Application fees
Candidates belonging to the General and OBC categories will have to pay an examination fee of Rs. 400, while the fee for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes has been fixed at Rs. 200. Persons with Disabilities are exempted from paying any application fee. Payments can be made only through online modes including UPI, net banking and debit or credit cards.
The commission clarified that application fees, once paid, will not be refunded under any circumstances.
Document verification and answer key
The MSSC said shortlisted candidates will be required to produce original documents relating to educational qualifications, age, category, disability status and other eligibility conditions during document verification. Failure to produce the required documents will lead to cancellation of candidature.
The commission also announced that provisional answer keys will be uploaded after the examination to enable candidates to raise objections within three days by paying Rs. 100 per challenged question. Objections will be examined by an expert committee, whose decision will be final.
Commission advises candidates to monitor updates
The MSSC stated that examination dates, admit card download schedules and other important announcements will be notified separately through its official website.
Candidates have been advised to regularly check the commission's portal for updates and ensure that all information submitted during the application process is accurate. The notification warns that furnishing false information, suppressing material facts or using unfair means during the examination will result in disqualification and may lead to debarment from future recruitment examinations.
