IMPHAL — India achieved its best-ever result at the Asian Skateboarding Championships as Anwita Stalin Meledath secured a seventh-place finish at the continental event held April 7-12 in Meishan, China, officials said.

The 11-member Indian contingent, competing under the Roller Skating Federation of India, was led by Irom Umananda Mangang, chairman of the RSFI's Skateboard Committee. Mangang is from Manipur.

Meledath's finish marks a historic high for Indian skateboarding at the Asian level and is expected to encourage emerging athletes across the country, including in Manipur, where the sport has been steadily gaining ground.

Officials said the result is anticipated to boost the sport's growth both nationally and in the northeastern state.
