CAF&PD IOCL Press Meet

IMPHAL – A joint press conference was organised by the Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) and the Department of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution (CAF&PD), Government of Manipur, in collaboration with the Press Information Bureau (PIB), Regional Office, Imphal, on Friday at the Conference Hall of the Imphal Divisional Office, IOCL, Sangakpham, Imphal.

The press meet was attended by K. Bono Singh, Director, CAF&PD; Rajkumar Mohen Singh, State Level Coordinator, IOCL, Imphal Divisional Office; Haobam Bobby Singh, OSD (POL), CAF&PD; Dr. Engam Pame, Regional Director, PIB Imphal; and other senior officials.

LPG Supply Stable Despite Global Challenges

K. Bono Singh, Director, CAF&PD, Manipur, briefed the media on the current status of LPG and petroleum product availability in the state. He highlighted that LPG supply across the state remains stable and is being continuously monitored to ensure uninterrupted delivery to households, despite global geopolitical challenges impacting energy markets. He reaffirmed that domestic LPG supply remains a key priority of the State Government.

"IOCL has ensured uninterrupted LPG distribution across Manipur, currently supplying around 11,000 cylinders per day — levels comparable to the pre-crisis period," he stated.

Digital Booking and Anti-Malpractice Measures

K. Bono Singh urged LPG consumers to use digital booking platforms such as SMS and IVRS, which now account for approximately 54 percent of all bookings. The use of Delivery Authentication Codes (DAC OTP) has been implemented to ensure cylinders are delivered only to genuine customers.

Performance-based data analysis is being employed to identify irregularities and guide inspections. IOCL is working closely with the State Government to curb malpractices, and several raids have already been conducted. He further mentioned that 224 surprise inspections have been carried out from March 24, 2026, till date, following the installation of District Monitoring Committees across all districts of the state.

The Director urged the public not to engage in panic bookings or hoarding and to disregard rumours, assuring that LPG supply is sufficient and there is no need for customers to queue at distribution points.

To meet the requirements, allocation of commercial LPG cylinders for the health and education sectors has been restored to 100 percent, while 60 percent of commercial cylinders are being released for other sectors.

Special Provisions for Migrant Workers

Special arrangements have been made for migrant workers as per instructions from the Government of India, to increase the supply of 5 kg LPG cylinders under the Free Trade LPG scheme. Thirteen distributors and agencies have been identified to extend such facilities to migrant workers, who may approach the Department to avail them.
