Manipur CM Y Khemchand inspected Bir Tikendrajit International Airport's new terminal upgradation and Paona Bazar road work, noting significant progress while directing officials to address workmanship and execution shortcomings promptly.
IMPHAL – Manipur Chief Minister Y Khemchand on Sunday undertook a series of on-ground inspections, reviewing the progress of the new terminal upgradation at Bir Tikendrajit International Airport and the ongoing road upgradation work at Paona Bazar. While acknowledging significant progress at both sites, the Chief Minister flagged shortcomings in workmanship and execution, directing concerned officials to rectify the deficiencies without delay.
The Chief Minister visited Bir Tikendrajit International Airport accompanied by the Chief Secretary, Additional Chief Secretary, Commissioner (Home), Director (Airport), and Director (Transport) to assess the progress of the new terminal upgradation work.
CM Khemchand said it was gratifying to observe that significant strides had been made in the project and expressed hope that its timely completion would greatly enhance passenger convenience and service delivery.
However, the Chief Minister noted certain shortcomings in workmanship at a few locations during the inspection. He directed the concerned officials to address and rectify these deficiencies without delay. The inspection also covered a review of the Air Cargo Terminal facilities.
Reiterating the government's commitment to world-class infrastructure, the Chief Minister said that ensuring the International Airport operates at optimal efficiency remains a key responsibility of the state government, adding that the administration is fully committed to delivering infrastructure that meets the highest standards for the people.
In a separate inspection, CM Khemchand visited Paona Bazar to review the ongoing road upgradation work, accompanied by officials concerned. He noted that substantial progress had been achieved towards timely completion of the project.
Similar to the airport inspection, the Chief Minister observed certain shortcomings in execution during his visit and issued necessary instructions to the officials to address these gaps promptly and ensure adherence to quality standards.
The government, he asserted, remains committed to the timely and efficient completion of the road project, with a focus on delivering durable and high-quality infrastructure for the public.
