Manipur Governor and Chief Minister condemned the NH-202 ambush in Ukhrul district that killed a truck driver and injured a police constable.
Governor, Chief Minister Condemn NH-202 Ambush in Ukhrul District
Imphal, May 30: Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla has strongly condemned the ambush on a truck carrying essential commodities along National Highway-202 in Ukhrul district, which left a truck driver dead and a police constable injured.
In a statement, the Governor described the attack as a “cowardly ambush” and said such acts of violence were deeply disturbing and detrimental to ongoing efforts aimed at restoring peace, stability and normalcy in the state.
He expressed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family of the deceased truck driver and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured police personnel. The Governor also stated that necessary measures had been initiated in response to the incident and efforts were underway to bring those responsible to justice.

Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand also condemned the attack. In a social media post, he said he strongly condemned the “heinous ambush” on a goods vehicle between Leingangching and T.S. Kasom village along NH-202 under Litan Police Station.
The Chief Minister said the truck driver, who hailed from West Bengal, lost his life in the attack while a police constable sustained injuries. He conveyed his deepest condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for eternal peace for the deceased. He also wished the injured constable a speedy and full recovery.
Calling the incident a senseless act of violence, Khemchand said such attacks would not be tolerated and assured that the perpetrators would be brought to justice in accordance with the law.
