IMPCC Manipur monthly meeting at CAU Lamphel focuses on improving public communication, media coordination and visibility of government initiatives.
Imphal, May 29: The monthly meeting of the Inter Media Publicity Coordination Committee (IMPCC), Manipur Chapter, was held on Friday at the conference hall of the Central Agricultural University (CAU), Lamphel, with officials and representatives from various government departments and media organisations discussing ways to strengthen public communication and outreach in the state.
The meeting was organised by the Press Information Bureau (PIB), Imphal, and hosted by Central Agricultural University under the chairmanship of Dr. Engam Pame, IIS, Director of PIB Imphal.
Representatives from several organisations attended the meeting, including the Press Information Bureau, Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), Doordarshan Kendra (DDK), All India Radio (Akashvani), National Informatics Centre (NIC), National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT), Central Agricultural University, ICAR, Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development (IBSD), Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) Manipur, Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO), and the Airports Authority of India, among others.
The participation of departments and media organisations reflected the ongoing efforts to strengthen coordinated communication and improve dissemination of public information across Manipur.
Welcoming the participants, Dr. Engam Pame thanked members for their continued cooperation and active involvement in the committee’s activities. He observed that many government departments and institutions have been carrying out significant programmes and initiatives, but several of these activities often fail to reach the public effectively because of limited publicity and outreach.
He stressed the importance of media and communication platforms in ensuring that citizens remain informed about government schemes, developmental programmes and institutional achievements. He urged departments to make greater use of the IMPCC platform to share information, success stories and updates on ongoing activities.
Dr. Pame said the committee acts as an important bridge between government institutions and the public and called for collective efforts to ensure timely and accessible dissemination of information.
During the meeting, representatives from participating departments made detailed presentations on their activities and achievements over the past month. The presentations covered ongoing projects, awareness campaigns, public outreach initiatives, capacity-building programmes and other developmental activities being undertaken in different sectors.
Departments also outlined their upcoming programmes and strategies aimed at improving service delivery and public engagement. The discussions provided participants with an overview of the initiatives currently being implemented by various institutions in the state.
The deliberations focused on the need for greater coordination among departments to improve communication practices and increase public awareness regarding government programmes and services.
Members discussed practical measures for improving the visibility of government initiatives through better planning, timely dissemination of information and effective use of both traditional and digital media platforms.
There was broad agreement among participants on the importance of adopting a more integrated and proactive communication strategy to ensure that information reaches people in a clear and effective manner.
The meeting also highlighted the need to align communication efforts with national priorities and ensure wider awareness of flagship schemes and public welfare programmes.
Participants reiterated their commitment towards contributing to the vision of Viksit Bharat by promoting transparent, accurate and citizen-friendly communication practices.
The meeting concluded with members reaffirming their commitment to continued collaboration, regular sharing of information and strengthening the IMPCC platform to build a more responsive and people-centric communication framework in Manipur.
