Team India wins two Silver Medals and three Merit Awards at Taipei Capital Cup 2026, showcasing India’s growing global skills excellence.
New Delhi, May 29: Team India delivered an impressive performance at the Taipei Capital Cup 2026, securing two Silver Medals and three Merit Awards at the international skilling competition held in Taipei, Taiwan from May 26 to 28.
Competing against participants from 15 countries across Asia, Europe, the Americas and Oceania, the Indian contingent showcased strong performances across multiple skill categories, highlighting India’s growing presence in global skill competitions. The team participated in five highly competitive categories and demonstrated technical expertise in industry-relevant and emerging domains.
The contingent was supported by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) and the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), which facilitated training, mentoring and international exposure for the participants.
Among the medal winners, Ms. Muskan secured a Silver Medal in Painting and Decorating, while Mr. Arjun Sumathi Vijayabashkar won a Silver Medal in Mobile Applications Development.
Three Indian participants also received Merit Awards for their performances. Mr. Mohamed Mafaz Poonaikannan Rabi Ahamed earned a Merit Award in Software Applications Development, Mr. Suresh Kumar Ganesan Meena received a Merit Award in Digital Construction, and Mr. Md Seraj was recognised with a Merit Award in Automobile Technology. The Silver Medal winners received prize money of 8,000 Taiwan Dollars each, while the Merit Award recipients were awarded 5,000 Taiwan Dollars each.
Congratulating the team, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and Minister of State for Education Jayant Chaudhary said the achievements reflected the capability and confidence of India’s youth on the global stage. He stated that the competition provided an important opportunity for Indian participants to benchmark their skills against international standards and gain valuable exposure ahead of larger global events such as WorldSkills Shanghai 2026.
“Team India’s performance at the Taipei Capital Cup 2026 is a proud reflection of the confidence, capability and determination of India’s youth,” he said.
The Minister added that such competitions strengthen India’s efforts to build a globally competitive and future-ready workforce under the vision of Viksit Bharat.
Secretary, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Debashree Mukherjee also congratulated the participants, mentors and experts associated with the programme. She said the results reflected the strengthening of India’s skilling ecosystem and highlighted the role played by training institutions, state governments and industry partners in preparing young professionals for international competitions.
According to the Ministry, the Indian contingent underwent extensive preparation under the guidance of experts and mentors from different sectors.
The experts included Ankur Sharma for Mobile Applications Development, Aniket Kumar Pathak for Software Applications Development, Saumya Dwivedi for Painting and Decorating, Prasanna Prakash Samel for Automobile Technology and Shiju Sasidharan for Digital Construction.
The Ministry stated that industry support played a major role in preparing participants for the competition. Companies and organisations including Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai Motors, Kia Motors, BIMLABS Global and YPSVEF by JK Cement contributed through technical training, infrastructure support and industry-led mentoring programmes.
Officials said these collaborations helped create an ecosystem that enabled Indian participants to compete effectively at the international level.
The Taipei Capital Cup served as an important platform for participants to gain exposure to global standards in vocational education and technical skills. The competition is also being viewed as a preparatory step towards future international events, including WorldSkills Shanghai 2026.
According to the Ministry, the success of Team India reflects the country’s ongoing efforts to strengthen vocational education, industry-aligned training and future-ready skills among youth. The government stated that initiatives under the national skilling mission continue to focus on improving employability, innovation and technical competencies among young Indians.
Officials said achievements at global competitions such as the Taipei Capital Cup reinforce India’s ambition of becoming a major global hub for skilled talent. The Ministry added that continued investment in training, mentorship and industry collaboration would remain important for preparing Indian youth for emerging opportunities in the international workforce.
