DGP Mukesh Singh reviewed security preparedness in Kakching and Chandel, inaugurated a Cyber Cell, and briefed the Special Commando Unit on operational readiness.
Imphal, June 29: Director General of Police (DGP) Mukesh Singh on Monday reviewed security preparedness, policing strategies and departmental welfare during visits to Kakching district, the 8th Manipur Rifles (MR) Headquarters at Leikun and Chandel district, while also briefing the State's Special Commando Unit on operational readiness.
Accompanied by Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order), the DGP conducted a series of review meetings with district police officers, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), central agencies, civil society organisations (CSOs) and Assam Rifles personnel to assess the prevailing security situation and strengthen policing measures across the state.
The DGP began his tour in Kakching district, where he reviewed the district police's preparedness to prevent any untoward incidents in vulnerable areas during the ongoing farming season.

During an interaction with officers of the district police, CAPFs and central agencies, Mukesh Singh stressed the need for effective investigation and speedy disposal of criminal cases. He directed officers to continue sustained operations against anti-national elements and drug traffickers while intensifying efforts to recover illegal arms and ammunition.
He also assured police personnel that officers demonstrating exemplary professionalism and dedication in the discharge of their duties would be suitably rewarded.
The DGP appreciated the Kakching District Police's Cycle Patrol initiative, describing it as an effective model of beat policing that strengthens community engagement and improves police visibility. He also interacted with representatives of various civil society organisations to discuss local policing issues.
At the Headquarters of the 8th Manipur Rifles at Leikun, the DGP chaired a review meeting focusing on the deployment of personnel at various posts and outposts, static guard duties and overall law and order responsibilities.
He emphasised professionalism, discipline and healthy work practices among officers and personnel while encouraging them to maintain a harmonious working environment within the unit.
Mukesh Singh also advised officers to explore innovative ways to utilise the unit's available land and other resources for the welfare of police personnel and the department.
During his visit to Chandel district, the DGP inaugurated a newly renovated conference hall at the Office of the Superintendent of Police and formally opened a newly established Cyber Cell aimed at enhancing cybercrime investigation capabilities and modernising policing infrastructure in the district.
He later held interaction sessions with officers of the Chandel District Police, representatives of civil society organisations and the Assam Rifles.
The discussions focused on district policing, professional and people-centric policing practices and coordination among various stakeholders.
The DGP appreciated the close cooperation between the district police and civil society organisations in maintaining peace and harmony in the district. He emphasised that continued inter-agency coordination would remain essential in addressing emerging security challenges.
He also encouraged young people from Chandel district to participate in the upcoming Manipur Police recruitment rally, describing it as an opportunity for local youth to contribute to public service and strengthen the state's police force.
