Imphal, June 7: The ICAR Research Complex for North Eastern Hill (NEH) Region, Manipur Centre at Lamphelpat has been awarded the First Best Stall Award at the State Krishi Mela 2026 organised by the State Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute (SAMETI) under the Department of Agriculture, Government of Manipur.

The recognition was presented for the Centre’s exhibition of agricultural research achievements, improved crop varieties, climate-resilient technologies, farm machinery, integrated farming systems and extension activities aimed at supporting farmers across the region.

According to the Centre, its stall attracted a large number of farmers, students, entrepreneurs, government officials and visitors throughout the event. Interactive demonstrations and information displays helped showcase a range of scientific innovations and practical farming technologies developed for the North Eastern Hill region.

The exhibition featured technologies and research outcomes from several disciplines, including crop science, horticulture, natural resource management, agricultural engineering, livestock production, fisheries and agricultural extension. Visitors were provided information on sustainable farming practices, balanced nutrient management, climate-smart agriculture and improved production technologies suited to local agro-climatic conditions.

Dr. S. Basanta Singh, Head of the Regional Centre, congratulated the scientists, technical staff, support personnel and employees of the Centre’s Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) for their efforts in planning, organising and managing the exhibition. He acknowledged the contribution of various divisions and KVKs in presenting the Centre’s research achievements and farmer-oriented technologies during the mela.

He said the award reflects the Centre’s continued commitment to promoting scientific agricultural innovations and strengthening links between researchers, extension agencies and the farming community. He added that such platforms provide an opportunity to disseminate knowledge and encourage the adoption of improved agricultural practices among farmers.

The Centre also expressed gratitude to the Department of Agriculture, Government of Manipur, for organising the State Krishi Mela and providing a platform for showcasing agricultural technologies and innovations. Officials said the event enabled direct interaction between scientists, farmers and other stakeholders, helping to promote awareness of modern and sustainable farming practices in the state.
