Karnataka Meitei Association and Columbiaa Hospital have launched a healthcare partnership, offering wellness camps and medical concessions for Manipuris in Bangalore.
Bangalore, June 14: The Karnataka Meitei Association (KMA) has launched a healthcare partnership with Columbiaa Hospital, Bangalore, aimed at providing affordable and accessible medical services to members of the Manipuri community residing in the city.
As part of the initiative, KMA and Columbiaa Hospital jointly organised the first phase of a Free Mega Wellness Camp on June 13 at Columbiaa Hospital, Kasturi Nagar. More than 30 Manipuri men and women participated in the camp and availed themselves of various free healthcare services offered by the hospital.
The wellness camp provided a range of health screening and consultation services, including blood pressure and BMI assessments, random blood sugar testing, height and weight measurements, ECG examinations, Ankle-Brachial Index (ABI) tests, 2D Echo scans, cardiology consultations and general medical check-ups.
Participants also benefited from Bone Mineral Density (BMD) tests, dental examinations and ophthalmology screenings, including eye and vision assessments.
The camp was supported by specialist doctors from departments such as Orthopedics, Cardiology, Dental Sciences, General Medicine and Diabetology, and Ophthalmology.
According to KMA, the healthcare collaboration extends beyond the wellness camp and includes a range of concessions and benefits for Manipuri community members. Through the partnership, eligible beneficiaries will be able to avail a 30 per cent concession on medicines and diagnostic investigations, along with special discounts on consultations, treatments and other healthcare services at the hospital.
Speaking on the occasion, KMA Vice President James Haoraobam said the programme marks the beginning of a long-term healthcare initiative for the Manipuri diaspora in Bangalore.
He announced that free health camps will be organised on the second Saturday of every month and urged Manipuri families, students and working professionals living in Bangalore to actively participate and take advantage of the services being offered.
Haoraobam further said eligible community members can access the healthcare concessions through a valid KMA Health Card or an authorisation letter issued by the association. He encouraged interested individuals to contact KMA for additional information regarding the programme.
KMA President Subhas Takhellambam described the partnership as a significant welfare initiative for Manipuris residing in Bangalore.
He said the association, as a non-profit organisation, does not receive any financial benefit from the programme and that its executive members had worked extensively to make the collaboration possible.
"The welfare, health and well-being of the Manipuri diaspora remain our greatest achievement and source of satisfaction," he said.
The association also expressed gratitude to Dr H.V. Satish Babu, Medical Director and Head of the Neurosciences Department at Columbiaa Hospital, Managing Director Pavan Kumar and the hospital's medical and administrative teams for their support in successfully conducting the first phase of the programme.
KMA said it hopes to further strengthen the partnership in the coming months and ensure that quality healthcare services remain accessible and affordable for Manipuri families living in Bangalore.
