Manipur DGP Visits Kangpokpi and Senapati, Meets Civil Society Groups and Security Officials

Manipur DGP Mukesh Singh visited Kangpokpi and Senapati districts, reviewing security arrangements and meeting civil society and security representatives.

Imphal, June 7: Director General of Police (DGP), Manipur, Shri Mukesh Singh, IPS, on Sunday paid his maiden visit to Kangpokpi and Senapati districts, where he reviewed the law and order situation and held a series of interactions with police officers, security agencies, district administration officials, and civil society organisations.

The DGP was accompanied by Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order), Lhari Dorjee Lhatoo, IPS.

During the visit, Mukesh Singh met senior police officers of both districts and received detailed briefings on the prevailing security situation, law and order measures, operational preparedness, and major achievements of the district police forces. He also reviewed the functioning of the police units and assessed ongoing efforts to maintain peace and security in the region.

As part of the visit, the DGP held discussions with district administration officials and commanders of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) deployed in the area. The meetings focused on coordination among various agencies and the overall security environment in the districts.

In Kangpokpi, he interacted with representatives of several Kuki civil society organisations, including the Committee on Tribal Unity (COTU), Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM), Kuki Inpi Sadar Hills, Kuki Women Union (KWU), Kuki Students' Organisation (KSO) Sadar Hills, Thadou Inpi Sadar Hills, Thadou Youth Association (TYA), and Thadou Women's Association (TWA).

The DGP also met representatives of Naga civil society organisations in Senapati, including the United Naga Council (UNC), Naga Women Union (NWU), All Naga Students' Association Manipur (ANSAM), Naga Peoples' Organisation (NPO), Senapati District Students' Association (SDSA), and Senapati District Women's Association (SDWA).

During the interactions, Mukesh Singh reiterated that the rule of law applies equally to all citizens and stressed that the police would continue to perform their duties impartially and professionally. He said the police remain committed to serving the public without fear or favour and appealed to citizens to extend cooperation in maintaining law and order.

According to a police statement, the visit was conducted in a cordial atmosphere and helped strengthen communication and cooperation among the police, security forces, civil administration and civil society groups. Officials said such engagement is important for promoting mutual trust and supporting efforts towards lasting peace, security and development in the state.
