Imphal, June 4: The Sports Authority of India (SAI), North East Regional Centre (NERC), Imphal, has announced nationwide open football selection trials for boys and girls seeking admission into the National Centre of Excellence (NCOE) residential programme.

The trials will be conducted at the SAI NERC Football Ground in Takyelpat, Imphal, from June 6 to June 13, with the objective of identifying and nurturing promising young footballers from across the country.

According to a press release issued by SAI NERC on Thursday, the selection programme is aimed at providing talented grassroots players with an opportunity to access high-performance training facilities, scientific coaching and structured athlete development under the National Centre of Excellence scheme.

The NCOE programme is open to both boys and girls born between January 1, 2009, and December 31, 2015. Selected athletes will receive residential training and exposure to elite-level competition as part of the Sports Authority of India's talent development pathway.

The trials for boys will be held from June 6 to June 9, while the girls' selection process is scheduled from June 10 to June 13. All participants have been asked to report to the venue at 7 am on their respective trial dates.

SAI officials said the scouting programme is designed to evaluate players over multiple days, allowing selectors sufficient time to assess technical skills, physical fitness, tactical awareness and overall potential.

To participate in the trials, candidates must download and complete the official registration form available on the SAI NERC website. The filled application form must be submitted on the day of the trial along with the required supporting documents.

Participants have been instructed to bring the original Aadhaar card, original birth certificate, four recent passport-sized photographs and educational certificates for verification. Players who have represented at national or international competitions may also submit relevant sports performance certificates.

SAI NERC Football Coach Devender Dhillon encouraged aspiring footballers from across the country to take part in the trials and utilise the opportunities available under the National Centre of Excellence programme.

He said the initiative is intended to identify young talent with the potential to progress through India's football development system and compete at higher levels of the sport.

The selection trials form part of SAI's broader efforts to strengthen grassroots football and create a structured pathway for talented athletes to advance into professional and national-level competition.

Interested candidates may obtain further information by contacting SAI NERC through the helpline numbers provided by the centre.
