Security forces recovered an AK-47, grenades, explosives and several firearms during coordinated search operations in Thoubal, Kangpokpi and Noney districts.
Imphal, June 26: Security forces recovered a cache of arms, ammunition and explosives during search operations and area domination exercises conducted in vulnerable areas across three districts of Manipur on Friday, officials said.
According to police, the recoveries were made in separate operations carried out in Thoubal, Kangpokpi and Noney districts.
In the first operation, security forces recovered one SMG carbine with a magazine and five bolt-action rifles from the foothills of the Tentha Samuching area under Khongjom Police Station in Thoubal district.
The biggest recovery was made during a search operation in the hill ranges between Maohing village and North Changoubung under Kangpokpi Police Station in Kangpokpi district.

During the operation, security personnel seized one AK-47 assault rifle with a magazine, one 9 mm carbine with a magazine, one .303 rifle and four pistols.
The forces also recovered 29 single-barrel firearms, one .303 rifle magazine loaded with three rounds, and 129 live rounds of ammunition of different calibres.
In addition, two pump-action firearms, three improvised bombs, 200 grams of PEK explosive, two No. 36 hand grenades and three Baofeng radio sets were recovered from the area.
In another operation conducted at Joujangtek under Khoupum Police Station in Noney district, security forces recovered two country-made single-barrel guns along with 49 cartridges.
Police said the operations formed part of the ongoing search and area domination exercises being carried out in fringe and vulnerable areas across the state to recover illegal arms and ammunition and strengthen security.
The recovered weapons and other materials have been taken into police custody for further legal procedures. Further investigation is underway.
