Khemchand Singh said the decision to provide financial assistance was taken with the hope of easing the hardships faced by displaced families, many of whom continue to endure the emotional and economic burden of being unable to return to their homes.
"It is unfortunate that people are unable to live in their own homes," he said, adding that the prevailing situation has forced many families to remain away from their native places for an extended period.
Speaking at the programme, Rajya Sabha MP Adhikarimayum Sharda Devi announced that women staying at the relief camp would be provided weaving machines and assistance for other livelihood-related activities to help them become economically self-reliant.
The programme was attended by Kumbi MLA Sanasam Premchandra Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Imphal West Mayanglambam Rajkumar Singh, government officials, and residents of the relief camp.
The distribution of medical assistance forms part of the state government's ongoing relief measures for internally displaced persons affected by the conflict in Manipur.
