NSCN/GPRN has denied any role in the Ukhrul ambush that killed two Assam Rifles personnel, reaffirming its commitment to the ceasefire agreement and Indo-Naga peace talks.
Imphal, July 6: The NSCN/GPRN on Monday denied any involvement in the militant ambush near Nungshang River in Manipur's Ukhrul district that claimed the lives of two Assam Rifles personnel, asserting that the organisation had no connection with the incident.
In a press statement issued from Hebron, the outfit said reports alleging that the attack was carried out by an armed group suspected to be a breakaway Eastern Flank faction had "no connection whatsoever" with the NSCN/GPRN. It also clarified that "there exist no Eastern Flank in the Naga Army of the NSCN/GPRN."
"The NSCN/GPRN categorically states that it was neither involved in nor had any knowledge of the said incident," the statement said.
The organisation maintained that it remains committed to the ceasefire agreement with the Government of India and continues to abide by the agreed ground rules.

Reiterating its position on the ongoing Indo-Naga political dialogue, the NSCN/GPRN stated that it would "never resort to any action that could undermine, derail, or sabotage the ongoing Indo-Naga political negotiations."
"The pursuit of an honorable and peaceful political solution remains the unwavering commitment of the NSCN/GPRN," it said.
The outfit also condemned actions that could adversely affect the peace process, stating that it "unequivocally condemns all actions and activities that are detrimental to the peace process and the ongoing Indo-Naga political talks."
Calling for restraint, the organisation urged all stakeholders to act responsibly to ensure that progress made towards a peaceful resolution is not undermined by incidents capable of creating mistrust and instability.
