Imphal, July 12: The Rotary Club of Imphal (RID 3240) on Sunday installed a Rotary Peace Pole at Sendra overlooking Loktak Lake, reaffirming its commitment to promoting peace, harmony and conflict prevention in Manipur.
The initiative was organised as part of Rotary International's focus on peacebuilding and conflict prevention and also aimed at strengthening the organisation's public image through community-oriented service.
The Peace Pole, regarded as a universal symbol of peace, carries a message of hope, unity and mutual understanding among people of different communities, cultures and nations. According to the organisers, the installation reflects Rotary's continued efforts to foster peace at the local, national and global levels.
The Peace Pole was formally inaugurated through a ribbon-cutting ceremony jointly conducted by Rotary Club of Imphal past presidents Rtn. Dr. M. Madhumangal Singh and Rtn. L. Surchandra Singh in the presence of club members.
