Manipur CM Yumnam Khemchand Singh reviews highway security at a Unified Command meeting and discusses measures for resuming Imphal-Guwahati and Imphal-Dimapur bus services.
Imphal, August 10: Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh on Monday chaired a Combined Headquarters (Unified Command) meeting at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat in Babupara, Imphal, to review the prevailing law and order situation in Manipur and the security scenario along the state’s national highways.
The high-level meeting brought together senior officials of the State Police, Army, Assam Rifles and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), with discussions focusing on highway security and measures to ensure the safe, secure and uninterrupted movement of passengers and goods.
In a post on X, Chief Minister Khemchand said he had chaired the Combined HQ (Unified Command) meeting with senior officials of the State Police, Army, Assam Rifles and CAPFs.
He said the meeting reviewed the law and order situation along Manipur’s highways and measures to ensure safe, secure and uninterrupted movement of passengers and goods.
“Our Government remains committed to peace, stability and normalcy across the State,” the Chief Minister stated.

The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Dr. Puneet Kumar Goel, Advisor (Security) Kuldiep Singh, Director General of Police Mukesh Singh, ADGP (Intelligence) Lhari Dorjee Lhatoo, Major General Gaurav Sharma, IGAR (South), Major General Subhankar Basu, GOC 57 Mountain Division, and Rajendra Narayan Dash, IG, CRPF (M&N Sector).
Senior representatives from central paramilitary forces and intelligence agencies also participated in the meeting. Those present included the Joint Director of the Subsidiary Intelligence Bureau under the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Deputy Inspector General of the Border Security Force (BSF), the Commandant of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and the Officer Commanding of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Manipur.
The discussions come amid continued efforts by the state government to strengthen security arrangements along key highway routes and facilitate the movement of people and essential goods across the state.
Bus services resumption discussed
Following the Unified Command meeting, the Chief Minister chaired another high-level meeting involving the same senior security officials and representatives of transporters.
The meeting discussed the proposed resumption of the Imphal-Guwahati and Imphal-Dimapur bus services, with security arrangements and movement along the routes forming part of the discussions.
The resumption of the two inter-state bus services had been jointly announced on August 8 by Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh, Deputy Chief Minister Nemcha Kipgen and Saitu Assembly Constituency MLA Haokholet Kipgen at the Kangpokpi district headquarters.

The government’s announcement had marked an effort to restore public transport connectivity between Imphal and neighbouring states. The latest meeting with security officials and transport representatives was aimed at discussing the arrangements required for the services to resume.
The discussions on bus services also come in the context of the broader security review of Manipur’s national highways. Ensuring the safe movement of passengers, commercial vehicles and essential supplies remains an important component of efforts to improve connectivity and restore normal transportation across the state.
The Chief Minister’s emphasis on safe and uninterrupted movement along the highways follows the government’s stated efforts to restore normalcy and strengthen public confidence in road connectivity.
The Unified Command will continue to serve as a platform for coordination among the state security establishment, Army, Assam Rifles, CAPFs and intelligence agencies on issues relating to security and law and order in Manipur.
