NIELIT Imphal concludes a six-day entrepreneurship programme under CMESS, training 180 aspiring entrepreneurs from seven Manipur districts in business, finance, innovation and digital skills.
Imphal, August 8: A six-day Entrepreneurship Development Programme (EDP) organised under the Chief Minister’s Entrepreneurship Support Scheme (CMESS) of the Manipur StartUp Scheme concluded at NIELIT Imphal on Saturday, with 180 aspiring entrepreneurs receiving training in business development, finance, innovation, digital marketing and enterprise management.
The programme, held from August 3 to 8, brought together participants from Imphal East, Imphal West, Bishnupur, Thoubal, Kakching, Ukhrul and Senapati districts. It was aimed at equipping aspiring entrepreneurs with the knowledge, practical skills and confidence required to establish and manage sustainable enterprises.
The training covered different stages of entrepreneurship, including identifying business opportunities, innovation, statutory compliance, intellectual property rights, financial management, bank financing, digital marketing, government support schemes, business planning and investor engagement.
The programme opened with sessions on developing an entrepreneurial mindset and identifying viable business opportunities. Prof. Ch. Ibohal Meitei of Manipur University spoke on developing an entrepreneurial mindset, while Dr. Kharibam Somorendro Singh conducted a session on identifying viable business opportunities. Participants were encouraged to explore innovative and locally relevant enterprise ideas.
On August 4, Prof. L. Jibon Kumar of the Manipur Institute of Management Studies, Manipur University, explained the seven sources of innovation. Roshni Kumar Yambem, Founder and Managing Director of Globiz Web Solutions Pvt. Ltd., discussed the difference between self-employment and business ownership and shared practical lessons from his entrepreneurial experience.
The sessions on August 5 dealt with the legal and regulatory requirements for setting up businesses. Ksh. Bikramjit Singh, Deputy Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Government of Manipur, explained legal formalities and statutory compliance requirements applicable to enterprises.
Leimapokpam Surjit Singh, Research Scientist (IPR), MASTEC, addressed intellectual property rights and explained the importance of protecting business ideas, innovations, trademarks and other intellectual assets.
Financial management and banking services formed the focus of the August 6 sessions. Puyam Surchand Singh, Managing Director of Siroi Financial Consultancy Pvt. Ltd., spoke on financial management, accounting and banking services.
Oinam Khogendro Singh, Senior Branch Manager, Bank of India, Imphal Branch, explained procedures related to bank-loan disbursement, credit schemes for start-ups, financial documentation and working-capital management.
The August 7 sessions introduced participants to technology-based approaches for business promotion and government assistance. Kh. Veeshel Singh, Assistant Professor at NIELIT Imphal, conducted a session on digital marketing, AI-based branding and the effective use of social media to expand businesses.
Dr. Sinam Yoirentomba, Deputy Director, MSME Technology Centre, Imphal, Ministry of MSME, Government of India, explained various MSME schemes and institutional support available to entrepreneurs.
The final day focused on business-plan preparation, presentation and investor engagement. Sapam Shyamananda, Delivery Head at Tata Consultancy Services, conducted an interactive session on pitching skills, elevator pitches and communication strategies.
He also guided participants in refining their business plans, checking the required documentation and preparing for the subsequent common event.
Devson Yenkhom, Managing Director of Tashi Interior, addressed the participants on business management and shared practical insights into managing and sustaining an enterprise.
The programme enabled the participants to interact with experts from academia, industry, government departments, financial institutions and technical organisations. The sessions combined expert presentations, practical discussions and business-plan preparation to help participants understand the process of developing innovative ideas into viable enterprises.
The successful completion of the programme marks another step in efforts under the Manipur StartUp Scheme to encourage entrepreneurship and self-employment among the state’s youth.
NIELIT Imphal expressed appreciation to the experts, participating organisations and trainees for their contributions and active participation throughout the programme.
