Keisham Meghachandra questions Manipur government’s claim of normalcy after four Liangmai Nagas were killed, demanding security, accountability, justice and action.
Imphal, August 28: Manipur Congress president Keisham Meghachandra Singh has questioned the state government’s claim of restored normalcy following a series of ambushes that killed four Liangmai Naga civilians and seriously injured two others.
In a strongly worded post on X, Meghachandra challenged the Manipur Home Department to explain how normalcy could be claimed when civilians continue to be killed in violent attacks.
“Where is the normalcy claimed by the Home Department, Manipur?” he asked.
Meghachandra accused the government of failing to demonstrate responsibility and accountability over the continuing violence, questioning how long the people of Manipur would have to witness what he described as a “relentless cycle of violence” and the loss of innocent lives.

He termed the killing of four Liangmai Naga persons and the serious injuries suffered by two others “deeply disturbing and completely unacceptable”, and warned that such incidents could not be allowed to become a new normal in the state.
The Congress leader directly questioned the government’s handling of the security situation, asking, “Do you not understand the meaning of responsibility and accountability?”
He also criticised the Centre’s response, asserting that the Government of India could not remain a silent spectator while civilians continued to suffer and lose their lives.
According to Meghachandra, restoring normalcy cannot be limited to administrative claims while questions of civilian security, justice and accountability remain unresolved.
“There can be no real normalcy without security, justice and accountability,” he stated, calling on the authorities to take responsibility and act decisively to end the cycle of violence.
While condemning the latest killings, Meghachandra also maintained that violence cannot provide a solution to Manipur’s prolonged crisis. He called for meaningful dialogue, accountability, justice and decisive government action as the way forward.
He expressed condolences to the bereaved families and wished the injured a speedy recovery.
