MSCW organised a one-day training programme for One Stop Centre staff across Manipur to strengthen trauma counselling, legal awareness and case management skills.
Imphal, August 5: The Manipur State Commission for Women (MSCW) on Wednesday organised a one-day training programme for staff of One Stop Centres (OSCs) across the state to strengthen their capacity in providing support and assistance to women facing violence and trauma.
The programme, held at the Auditorium Hall of the Directorate of Information and Public Relations (DIPR), Nityaipat Chuthek, was organised under the sponsorship of the National Commission for Women (NCW). It brought together OSC personnel from all 16 districts of Manipur, with participants from seven districts attending in person and those from the remaining nine districts joining virtually.
Delivering the welcome and keynote address, Member Secretary of MSCW and Additional Director of IPR, W. Phajatombi Devi, MCS, said the programme marked the second phase of capacity-building training for One Stop Centre staff under the sponsorship of the National Commission for Women.
She said the staff had already demonstrated competence in delivering services, and the latest training was designed to further enhance their professional knowledge and practical skills. According to her, the first phase of the programme had already been completed under the aegis of the NCW, while the second phase was being conducted in line with the Commission's direction to further strengthen the capabilities of frontline personnel.
Phajatombi Devi noted that the earlier phase focused on practical demonstrations using minor cases as case studies. She expressed confidence that the current programme would provide participants with greater exposure to handling more complex and sensitive cases through expert guidance.
Addressing the gathering, MSCW Chairperson Th. Tiningpham Monsang underscored the important role played by One Stop Centre staff in supporting women and other individuals who have experienced violence, abuse or trauma.
She said continuous training is essential to ensure that service providers remain equipped with updated knowledge and effective intervention strategies. She encouraged participants to actively engage in the technical sessions and apply the learning in their day-to-day responsibilities.
The Chairperson also assured the staff that the Commission would continue extending guidance and support whenever they encounter difficult or complicated cases while providing assistance to survivors.
The training programme featured technical sessions conducted by experts from different fields. Prof. R.K. Lenin Singh, Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), delivered a session on trauma-informed counselling techniques. Advocate Thiyam Rajkishore spoke on women-related laws, while N. Binobala, Deputy Director of the Social Welfare Department, conducted a session on case documentation and Management Information System (MIS) reporting.
The workshop aimed to strengthen the professional capacity of One Stop Centre personnel to provide timely, effective and sensitive support to women in distress, while improving case management and coordination across the state's support system.
The programme was attended by MSCW Member Sk. Sophia, officials of the Commission and staff members from One Stop Centres operating across Manipur.
