StartUp Manipur 2.0 launches a six-day Entrepreneurship Development Programme to equip CMESS beneficiaries with business skills, mentorship and practical entrepreneurial training.
Imphal, August 5: A six-day Entrepreneurship Development Programme (EDP) under StartUp Manipur 2.0 commenced at the IT Special Economic Zone (IT SEZ), Mantripukhri, with an aim to equip aspiring entrepreneurs selected under the Chief Minister's Entrepreneurship Support Scheme (CMESS) with the knowledge, skills and entrepreneurial mindset required to establish sustainable business enterprises. The programme is being organised by CubeTen Technologies Pvt. Ltd. in collaboration with the Planning Department, Government of Manipur.
The inaugural ceremony was held on August 4 and was attended by senior government officials, industry representatives, academicians and CMESS beneficiaries. Director of the Planning Department R.K. Radhesana Devi attended the event as the chief guest, while Joint Director of the Planning Department R.K. Tombisana Singh and Joint Director (Administration), Department of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry, T. Bidyarani Devi were the guests of honour. The programme was presided over by Haobam Joyremba, Managing Director of CubeTen Technologies Pvt. Ltd.
In her inaugural address, Radhesana Devi described entrepreneurship as a key driver of economic growth, employment generation and self-reliance in Manipur. She said structured training initiatives such as the Entrepreneurship Development Programme are essential to nurture entrepreneurial talent by providing participants with practical knowledge, confidence and business management skills. She encouraged beneficiaries to actively engage with resource persons throughout the six-day programme and utilise the training to build sustainable enterprises.
Speaking at the event, T. Bidyarani Devi highlighted the vast opportunities available in the veterinary and livestock sectors. She encouraged aspiring entrepreneurs to consider enterprises such as piggery, poultry and dairy farming, noting that these sectors have significant potential to generate rural livelihoods and contribute to the state's economy. She also informed participants about the technical assistance, training programmes and departmental support available for livestock-based businesses.
Addressing the gathering, R.K. Tombisana Singh explained the objectives of the Chief Minister's Entrepreneurship Support Scheme and outlined the financial assistance and support mechanisms available to eligible entrepreneurs. He urged participants to take full advantage of the training by interacting with experts and translating their business ideas into viable ventures.
In his presidential address, Haobam Joyremba emphasised the importance of entrepreneurship in creating employment opportunities, encouraging innovation and driving inclusive economic growth in Manipur. Sharing the growth story of CubeTen Technologies Pvt. Ltd., he spoke about the company's journey from its early years to becoming a recognised State Incubation Centre under StartUp Manipur 2.0. He reaffirmed the company's commitment to supporting entrepreneurs through incubation, mentorship, technical guidance and capacity-building initiatives in partnership with the government and industry stakeholders.
Following the inaugural session, the academic component of the programme began with a technical lecture by Dr. Sorokhaibam Keshorit Singh, Assistant Professor at the Manipur Institute of Management Studies (MIMS), Manipur University. His session focused on the concepts, characteristics and opportunities in entrepreneurship, introducing participants to the qualities of successful entrepreneurs, opportunity identification, innovation, leadership and risk management. According to the organisers, the session was interactive and encouraged participants to develop an entrepreneurial mindset.
The organisers said the Entrepreneurship Development Programme is designed to prepare CMESS beneficiaries to establish sustainable businesses that can contribute to employment generation and the broader economic development of Manipur. The initiative also seeks to strengthen the state's entrepreneurial ecosystem by combining government support with mentorship and practical business training.
