Churachandpur Chief Secretary Rajeev Singh Thakur reviews government schemes, e-governance, livelihoods and relief measures for IDPs and local youths.
Churachandpur, Sept. 12: Chief Secretary Rajeev Singh Thakur on Saturday reviewed the implementation of government schemes and development programmes in Churachandpur district, with a focus on health services, livelihood promotion, rehabilitation and relief measures for internally displaced persons (IDPs).
The review meeting was held at the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s office and attended by District Level Officers (DLOs) from various departments. The officers briefed the Chief Secretary on departmental achievements, ongoing programmes and implementation challenges.
Presentations during the meeting covered health, rural development, livelihood promotion, education, e-governance, rehabilitation and resettlement, skill development, infrastructure and other sectors. Thakur urged the officers to ensure effective implementation of government schemes and improve coordination among departments so that welfare and development benefits reach both displaced families and the local population.
The Chief Secretary particularly stressed the need to expand livelihood and skill-development initiatives beyond relief beneficiaries. He directed the district administration to extend skill training currently being provided to IDPs in various livelihood activities to local youths of Churachandpur as well, so they can acquire employable skills and access livelihood opportunities.
Thakur also placed emphasis on e-governance and appreciated the Deputy Commissioner for the use of e-Office. He directed all line departments to come on board the e-Office system to facilitate a complete paperless working environment. Greater use of digital file processing and official communication, he said, would improve efficiency, transparency and accountability in government functioning.
Following the departmental review, the Chief Secretary interacted with representatives of civil society organisations in Churachandpur.
He later visited the pre-fabricated relief camp at Bethlehem and the Lanva TD Block relief camp at Lingsiphai. During the visits, Thakur interacted with IDPs, heard their grievances and requests, and assured them of all possible assistance.
During the relief camp visits, Deputy Commissioner Krishna Kumar said the district administration was organising health camps regularly at every relief camp. IDPs requiring regular medical care were advised to inform the concerned Sub-Divisional Officer so that appropriate medical assistance could be arranged.
Kumar also informed that enrolment for Ayushman Bharat and Chief Minister-Gi Hakshelgi Tengbang (CMHT) cards had been carried out in all relief camps. IDPs who do not have either card were advised to approach the district administration so that enrolment could be facilitated through the District Hospital.
According to the district administration, 19 relief camps are currently operational in Churachandpur, accommodating 5,195 IDPs. In addition, 10,214 non-campers are receiving support through direct benefit transfer (DBT).
The Chief Secretary encouraged district-level officers to strengthen coordination and maintain effective implementation of welfare programmes. He stressed that development and livelihood measures should serve both displaced people and residents of the district.
Thakur was accompanied during the relief camp visits by the Deputy Commissioner, Superintendent of Police, Divisional Forest Officer, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Additional Superintendent of Police (Law and Order), Sub-Divisional Officers and officials from various line departments.
