Manipur CM Yumnam Khemchand Singh met Amit Shah, Nitin Gadkari and Mansukh Mandaviya in Delhi, discussing peace, roads and sports development.
Imphal, Oct. 8: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh held separate meetings with Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari, and Union Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya in New Delhi on Thursday, raising issues related to peace and normalcy, road connectivity, infrastructure and sports development in the state.
During his meeting with Amit Shah at the Union Home Minister’s official residence, Khemchand Singh briefed him on measures taken by the state government to restore peace and normalcy in Manipur.
The Chief Minister informed Shah that the government had succeeded in resuming the Imphal-Dimapur-Guwahati bus service, which, according to the state government, has provided relief to people travelling between the state and neighbouring areas.
Called on the Hon'ble Union Home Minister, Shri @AmitShah Ji, at his official residence in New Delhi today. During the meeting, I apprised the Hon'ble Home Minister of the various measures taken up by the State Government for restoring peace and normalcy in the State. I requested the Hon'ble Home Minister to help the State tide over various issues being faced by the State and sought continued support and guidance from the Central Government. I also reiterated my invitation to the Hon'ble Home Minister to visit Manipur. Accepting the invitation graciously, the Hon'ble Home Minister assured me that he will visit the State in this month. Shri Amit Shah Ji gave a patient hearing and assured all possible support in bringing lasting peace, progress and in fulfilling the aspirations of the people of Manipur. I express my sincere gratitude to the Hon'ble Home Minister for appreciating the sustained efforts of the State Government to restore peace and normalcy in Manipur.

Khemchand Singh also sought the Centre’s continued support in addressing various issues facing Manipur. He reiterated his invitation to Shah to visit the state.
Shah accepted the invitation and told the Chief Minister that he would visit Manipur this month. According to the state government, the Union Home Minister assured continued support for efforts to restore peace and promote progress in the state.
The Home Minister also appreciated the efforts being made by the state government towards bringing peace and normalcy to Manipur.
Later, Khemchand Singh met Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari and raised several issues concerning road infrastructure and connectivity in Manipur.
The Chief Minister urged Gadkari to initiate construction of the proposed Shangshak-Tengnoupal Highway. He also sought sanction for the proposed elevated highway project in Imphal city.

During the meeting, I raised various important issues related to the development and road connectivity of the State. I urged the Hon'ble Union Minister to start the construction work of the Shangshak-Tengnoupal Highway at the earliest and requested him to kindly sanction the proposed elevated highway project in Imphal city. I also requested him to ensure the timely completion of the ongoing works of National Highway-37 and National Highway-2 during this working season, to improve connectivity and ease the hardships faced by the people. The Hon'ble Union Minister informed me that the proposed elevated highway project in Imphal is under active consideration of the Ministry. He further assured that all projects and issues raised by the State Government will be duly addressed and that his Ministry will extend all possible help for the overall development and enhanced road connectivity of Manipur.

Khemchand Singh further requested the Union minister to ensure completion of ongoing works on National Highway-37 and National Highway-2 during the current working season. He said timely completion of the projects would help improve connectivity and reduce difficulties faced by people travelling across the state.
Gadkari informed the Chief Minister that the proposed elevated highway project in Imphal was under active consideration by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.
He also assured that the issues and projects raised by the state government would be addressed and that the ministry would extend support to Manipur in improving road connectivity and overall development.
The Chief Minister also met Union Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya in New Delhi.
During the meeting, Mandaviya appreciated the performance of Manipuri players in the recently concluded Asian Games at Aichi-Nagoya in Japan.
Khemchand Singh congratulated Mandaviya on the performance of the Indian contingent at the Games and discussed the contribution of Manipuri players and athletes to Indian sports.
Mandaviya agreed to visit Manipur shortly to review various works being undertaken by the Union Sports Ministry in the state. His visit will also include the National Sports University in Imphal.
The Chief Minister also raised the issue of the existence of two federations or sports bodies in several disciplines. He urged the Union Sports Minister to address the matter, stating that multiple federations in the same sporting discipline create difficulties for players.
Khemchand Singh also briefed Mandaviya on the contribution of athletes from Manipur to Indian sports and sought attention to issues affecting the state's sporting community.
The three meetings covered key areas of the state government's engagement with the Centre, including restoration of peace, transport connectivity, major road projects and sports development. The proposed visits by the Union Home and Sports Ministers are expected to provide an opportunity for further review of these issues in Manipur.
