Deputy Chief Minister Losii Dikho urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take strict action against those responsible for the killing of six Naga civilians, alleging involvement of a SoO group.
Imphal, June 14: Manipur Deputy Chief Minister Losii Dikho on Sunday appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to ensure strict action against those responsible for the abduction and killing of six Naga civilians, alleging that the perpetrators belonged to an armed group operating under the Suspension of Operations (SoO) agreement.
Speaking at a press conference held at the Darbar Hall of the Chief Minister's Secretariat following the NDA Chief Ministers' Conclave, Dikho described the killings as a deeply disturbing incident that has shocked the people of Manipur and intensified concerns over the activities of armed groups functioning under the SoO framework.
The Deputy Chief Minister referred to the six Naga men who were abducted on May 13 and whose bodies were later recovered in Kangpokpi district. Condemning the killings, he said such acts of brutality and violence were unacceptable under any circumstances and called for immediate measures to bring those responsible to justice.
Without naming any specific organisation, Dikho alleged that the individuals involved belonged to a group covered under the SoO arrangement jointly monitored by the Central and State governments. He urged Prime Minister Modi to intervene and ensure that armed cadres operating under the agreement are brought under strict control.
"We cannot remain silent spectators," Dikho said, adding that groups functioning under the SoO pact must be effectively regulated to prevent further incidents.
He stressed that the people of Manipur collectively desire peace and called for stronger measures to restore normalcy and strengthen law and order in the state, which continues to face ethnic tensions and security challenges.

The Deputy Chief Minister's remarks came amid growing demands from Naga civil society organisations, church bodies and community leaders for swift justice in the case. Several organisations have called for the immediate arrest of those involved and stronger action against armed groups allegedly linked to the incident.
During the press conference, Dikho also spoke about Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 12 years in office, describing him as one of the world's most influential leaders. He credited the Prime Minister with initiating major development projects across the country and highlighted his role in safeguarding the interests of minority communities.
Referring to the rights of minorities, Dikho said no community should face discrimination, harassment or persecution on the basis of religion. He drew the Prime Minister's attention to concerns regarding incidents of violence and harassment against Christians and stressed the need to uphold India's secular and democratic values.
He said protecting religious freedom and ensuring equal treatment of all communities remain essential for maintaining social harmony and national unity.
The Deputy Chief Minister reiterated that the recent killings had created widespread anguish among the Naga community and that decisive action by the authorities would help restore public confidence.
His appeal comes as candlelight vigils, prayer services and public demonstrations continue to be held across Manipur and neighbouring states in memory of the six victims. Community organisations have maintained that justice must be delivered without delay and that those responsible should be prosecuted under the law.
Dikho said the incident serves as a reminder of the urgent need for peace, accountability and stronger enforcement measures in conflict-affected areas of the state. He urged both the Central and State governments to work together to prevent further violence and ensure lasting stability in Manipur.
