Education Ministry Reviews Preparedness for NEET UG Re-Test on June 21

Education Ministry reviews preparedness for the June 21 NEET UG re-examination, stressing coordination, security, transparency and student-friendly arrangements.

New Delhi, June 18: The Union Ministry of Education on Thursday held a high-level review meeting with officials from the Centre, states and Union Territories, the National Testing Agency (NTA), and higher education institutions to assess preparedness for the NEET UG re-examination scheduled on June 21.

The meeting was chaired by Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and attended by Secretary, Department of School Education and Literacy, Sanjay Kumar; Secretary, Department of Higher Education, Vineet Joshi; and NTA Director General Abhishek Singh.

According to the Ministry of Education, discussions focused on examination preparedness, coordination mechanisms, security arrangements, logistics, grievance redressal systems and compliance with examination guidelines.

During the meeting, Pradhan stressed the need to uphold the highest standards of integrity, transparency and efficiency in conducting the re-examination. He directed all concerned authorities to remain vigilant and ensure that adequate measures were in place for the smooth and fair conduct of the examination.

The minister also emphasised coordination among all stakeholders and informed participants that officers designated by the ministry would be deployed across states to oversee activities related to the re-examination. These officers will report to a central command centre headed by the NTA Director General.

Pradhan asked state government nodal officers to ensure that candidates receive all necessary support so they can appear for the examination in a stress-free environment.

Sanjay Kumar said students should be provided with essential facilities at examination centres, including seating arrangements before the examination and access to drinking water. He urged state authorities to take appropriate steps to ensure candidate convenience.

Vineet Joshi said the period leading up to the re-examination was critical and called for proactive coordination among agencies, timely communication of instructions and strict adherence to prescribed protocols.

Abhishek Singh informed the meeting that the NTA was working closely with district-level coordination committees headed by district magistrates, state police departments and intelligence agencies to ensure the examination is conducted smoothly.

The ministry said states and Union Territories were advised to maintain close coordination with all stakeholders to facilitate a transparent and seamless examination process.

A total of 222 participants attended the review meeting, which was conducted in a hybrid mode. These included senior officials from states and Union Territories, nodal officers of centrally funded institutions, vice-chancellors and directors of higher educational institutions from across the country.

Participants assured full cooperation and expressed their commitment to taking all necessary measures for the smooth conduct of the re-examination and to ensuring a hassle-free experience for candidates.
